Their name divides opinion amongst watch enthusiasts, but the brand sent us a Filippo Loreti Rome watch to review: so here is the low down.
Filippo Loreti Rome Review
The Filippo Loreti Rome is presented in a rather lovely box, with an Apple-style folding envelope for the instructions. The watch is protected well by the box during transport and looks great against the black inner. There’s no getting away from it: this is an attractive watch.
Case
The 42mm case is 12mm thick. I thought the side profile looked a bit tall, but it doesn’t look or feel that way on the wrist. The watch wears bigger than you’d think thanks to the lack of bezel. The crown is large but easy to use, and I think the unusual design looks good.
Round the back is an excellent engraving – not a light laser etching as we so often see but a proper, embossed image. I’d argue with the claim that this offers the luxury of a watch ten times the price, but it certainly is better than most watches at this price point. Inside is a rather pedestrian but perfectly adequate Miyota 8215 movement under a sapphire crystal. Because of the long seconds hand, the low beat of the Miyota was apparent: I found myself wishing it swept around the dial a little more smoothly.
Dial and Hands
The guilloche effect on the dial of the Filippo Loreti Rome is rather striking, and it looks great as the watch moves in the light. The blue outer ring of the dial has a subtle sunburst effect, adding to the sparkle.
I like the multi-layer design and the date window and indices are all applied, which adds to the feeling of quality. It’s legible, even without the benefit of lume.
Strap and Buckle
Filippo Loreti has fitted a perfectly adequate strap to this watch. It’s not the best I’ve handled but – again – it is better than I expected for the price. The blue colour looks great and matches the dial nicely.
The watch fastens with a butterfly deployant – it’s a standard type I’ve seen many times before but it feels secure and looks fine.
What I Liked
- The watch looks good and feels great to wear
- The crown is nice to use; many recent watches I’ve reviewed have had small, fiddly crowns
- The quality and specifications, for the asking price, are great
What I Didn’t Like
- The watch looks a bit thick from the side profile, I prefer a more slender dress watch to fit under a shirt cuff
- Rose gold is an acquired taste: I’d almost always choose steel instead
- A higher beat movement would have made the second hand movement smoother
Filippo Loreti Rome – The WRUK Verdict
I was expecting a cheap, rebadged budget Chinese watch based on what I had seen and read on the internet. But the watch I have in front of me looks good, feels well-made, and the price is about right for the specifications.
For the money, I think the Filippo Loreti Rome is a really good watch. It has looks, specifications and build quality at – and mostly above – other watches I’ve seen at its price point.

Interesting write up but in my opinion Filippo Loreti is a rip off no matter what they sell. One only needs to search the net to see real life stories of how they have ripped off folks over the years.
Yes, I ordered a watch mid Nov 2020. They are now not replying to my e.mails.
I placed an order with them on the 1st of May, and paid extra for expedited shipping. But then later was told the 2 watches I had ordered were pre-order only.
They were also supposed to send regular follow ups to inform me about the progress of the watches but despite that, no mail update (even in my spam or junk). I have been the one chasing them since May.
After I followed up with them – this has been the time line of me waiting for delivery
On May 12th, I was told the watches would arrive in August.
On Aug 5th, I was told the date was changed to Mid September.
On 23rd September I was told the watches would be shipped end of that week.
On 7th Oct, I have again been told the same thing – that they will be shipped at the end of the week. That week has ended too – but no tracking number and no update!
They delete any posts I leave them on their instagram page and have twice ignored my requests to refund my money.
I would never recommend them to anyone as they have now taken my money since May and it doesn’t look like I will be getting the watches nor a refund either!
