A Swiss watch that’s connected with one of the biggest English football clubs: how does the Cimier QNET Manchester City watch hold up?
Cimier QNET Manchester City Watch Review
The Cimier QNET Manchester City watch arrived from Switzerland in a very robust cardboard box. At the $2,040 (£1,500) asking price, you would expect quality presentation, and although it is not badly packaged, some may expect more for their money. The circular box is an unusual design; the cardboard material is nowhere near the quality of the Bernhard H. Mayer PowerMaster First from the same company. I did not pay for the watch, and so it will be next month’s giveaway – the details to enter the competition to win the review sample are at the bottom of this page.
Case and Movement
The case of the Cimier QNET Manchester City watch is clearly inspired by the Genta school of watchmaking. Since APs and Hublots are the footballers’ choice, then it’s rather fitting that this watch shares some of their stylistic cues. The Sellita SW-200 movement is visible through the case back and features an engraved rotor. The whole case is finished in PVD black, except for the crown. I really liked the rotational knurling on the crown – it looks good and works well in hand.
At 46mm diameter, this is a large watch, but that black colour helps to make it wear smaller and, had I not checked the dimensions, I would have been convinced it were closer to 44mm at the most. The screws in the octagonal bezel are all properly aligned, and the watch wears very comfortably on my 7.5″ wrist.
Dial and Hands
The dial is predominantly black, with parts picked out in Manchester City’s signature blue. Although the base dial is very attractively textured with a pattern of squares, the actual Man City crest is a little flat: I thought it would have looked better if it were slightly embossed.
Otherwise, the dial is good – it is very legible, and it has just the right amount of colour to make it pop. The applied hour markers look good, and it does nail that “quality watch” feel very well.
Strap and Buckle
The rubber strap is fitted to the watch, which may make replacement a problem in the future, but it does give a seamless look that fits the watch well. More blue is used in the stitching, which gives it a more premium feel, and it’s a quality, soft rubber compound that does not irritate your wrist.
The buckle is a deployant type, in matching PVD black. It closes securely and releases with a positive click. The Cimier logo is neatly engraved on the outside. Overall, one of the better straps I have seen lately.

What I Liked
- The watch is well made and comfortable to wear
- The PVD coating works well with the case design
- The strap is superb both in design and execution
What I Didn’t Like
- The target audience for this watch is going to be limited to Manchester City fans.
- The dial is rather two-dimensional considering the asking price
- The price is very expensive given the specifications for a niche watch from a lesser-known brand
Cimier QNET Manchester City Watch – the WRUK Verdict
I’m torn by the Cimier Manchester City watch: on the one hand, it’s well made, it looks good and it has a great strap. Altogether, it is the kind of watch I would wear. On the other hand, if you’re not a Manchester City fan (and I do not follow football at all), then you’re not going to even consider it!
The biggest downside of this watch for me is the asking price: at $2,000 I can’t see why you would choose a Cimier over a watch with equivalent specifications from a better-known Swiss brand such as Longines that will hold its value better. A good watch then, but only if you love the football club.
